50 years of Hip Hop with Native New Yorker and Historian Earle "The Poet" Mitchell

The Dr. Selwynn Howard Show takes a break from its normal medical format and delves into a cultural genre of music and style, Hip Hop, that is celebrating 50 years of existence. Historian and native New Yorker Earle Mitchell gives and overview of the origins through the lens of a teenager growing up in New York City during the infancy of Rap and Hip Hop. We discuss many of the early pioneers and their lasting influence. We also talk about the cultural effect that hip hop has had globally, both the good and the bad.
